Gernika 75th anniversary: homage to George Steer

Tomorrow April 26th is the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Gernika by the Luftwaffe. But commemoration activities have already began including some most offensive and insulting to the memory of the victims of such a heinous crime, who are all us in a sense, by the always fascist and imperialist Spanish Army, as mentioned yesterday.

Equally the undemocratic Western Basque mock parliament rejected[es] (with only Spanish Nationalist votes) a proposal to demand the King of Spain, heir of the fascist dictator Francisco Franco, an apology for the crime. Currently the parliament does not represent the free will of the citizenry but only list previously vetted by the Spanish Inquisition (Audiencia Nacional, successor with a mere change of name of the fascist Tribunal de Orden Público).

But, insults apart, the Basque society in general and most of the World that is aware of this historic crime have paid respects to the victims and showed the rejection of Fascism then, now and ever.

Today a bust of the journalist who made the World know the razing of Gernika, George Steer, was inaugurated in the Biscayan town:

As you can see international representation from Nagasaki, sister city of Gernika, have been present, and also explaining their own history anddestruction by a mindless bombing, in that case a nuclear one.
