As happened in Argentina a decade ago, crisis ravaged Greece is being forced to look for alternatives to Capitalist structures in order to survive. They have developed a system of credits by which they can offer and get products and services outside the official EU-IMF bourgeois economy and without using the now most scarce euros.

Jct: Just imagine how many American towns were thriving as well during the Great Depression with over 2000 community currencies until they were banned by Roosevelt causing the extra deaths of 7 million Americans. Most people don't know he banned their community currency solution. Hope they don't ban TEMS.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure of the details of the US legislation but there's almost always a backdoor like calling them coupons instead of money or whatever. Also many of these class initiatives are not fully legal: class initiatives make their own de facto legitimacy by means of social consensus and numbers to resist the law (if need be).
