Basque Country: police charges violently against striking workers of Tubos Reunidos (Amurrio)

The every day more infamous (western) Basque Autonomous Police Corps (Ertzaintza) has starred another unprovoked violent charge against the Working Basque People, this time at Amurrio (Araba). The controversial police corps attacked an informative picket of striking workers at the entrance of the Tubos Reunidos pipes factory injuring one and arresting several.

As is usual, they have charged the arrested of "resistance" and "aggressions" but, while the Ertzaintza claims three injured among their ranks, the fact is that none of them was attended by any medic, strongly suggesting that, once again, they are lying.

The impunity of police in the Basque Country continues without changes and, as long as that is the case, the arrogance and unilateral violence of the police will not cease. Sadly we must get ready for some other mortal victim or lost eye at any moment because a armed corps that is given 100% free leeway will sooner than later abuse that power... as they have been doing all the time before now.

The workers at Tubos Reunidos were striking today against the declared intention of the company of lowering workers' salaries and worsen work conditions.
