New general strike called in the Basque Country for January 27th

The most important unions (by far) of the Basque Country, Basque Workers' Solidarity (ELA) and Patriotic Workers' Union (LAB), together with sectoral unions of teachers and school workers (STEE-EILAS), farmers (EHNE) and transport workers (HIRU), are calling a general strike in the Basque Country for January 27th against the looting of pensions, the increase of retirement age to 67 years and for workers' rights.

The last call of this kind, in June, was a total success with some 70% of workers walking out.
