Shameless Syriza MPs represent nobody

Only 32 of Syriza's MPs voted "no" to the horrible Troika impositions (here in detail annotated by Varoufakis himself, who was among the dissidents), 6 other abstained and one was absent. All the others (110) voted "yes", doing what can only be described as "PASOKism".

The threshold of dignity was well below the speculations of recent days that talked of more than 50 dissidents. This puts the situation very bad for the Left Platform to reclaim Syriza, as they have claimed to intend, even if the majority of Central Committee has signed against the deal.

The People of Greece voted already a resounding "no" to measures less severe than these but they have been betrayed by politicians who have absolutely no shame nor bravery.

In essence this situation leaves the country without any legitimate government or representation. The Tsipras regime has become a mere protectorate of Germany and the People of Greece owes loyalty to the state no more.

It is a very sad night for those who believe in democracy. The coup has been formalized by people who have no right to claim any representativity, much less call themselves "radical left" and are only a bunch of cowards and traitors.

Shame on you.

Appendix: list of honorable Syriza MPs who stuck with the Greek People and voted "no" or abstained:

NO:
A.Kyritsi, Z.Konstantopoulou, G.Varoufakis, N.Valavani, D.Stratoulis, D.Kodelas, E.Sotiriou, V.Chatzilamprou, I.Stathas, I.Skoumas, Th.Kotsias, K.Lapavitsas, M. Kritsotakis, D.Charalampidou, I.Gaitani, L.Amanatidou-Paschalidou, I.Ioannidis, E.Diamantopoulos, St.Samoilis, R.Makri, E.Ouzounidou, I.Zerdelis, K.Delimitros, Th.Petrakos, St. Leoutsakos, P.Lafazanis, Z.Zannas, V.Kyriakakis, M.Psarea, K.Dermitzakis, K.Isychos, K.Zacharias

ABSTAINED
V.Katrivanou, D.Mpaxevanakis, N.Michalakis, The. Diotis, V.Leva, Ch.Karagiannidis

ABSENT
M.Tsanaka

Update:

In synthesis: voting "no" were:
  • The 2 MPs from the Trotskyist International Workers' Left (DEA)
  • The 4 MPs from the Maoist KOE (formerly a distinct party)
  • 15 MPs from the Left Platform, including minister Lafazanis, vice-minister Stratoulis and Spokesman Petrakos
  • 10 non-aligned, including former minister Varoufakis, President of Parliament Konstantinopoulou and vice-ministers Valavani and Isychos
  • there seems to be one missing because the total count of Syriza's "no" vote is actually 32
Abstentions ("present") 6 non-aligned MPs. An MP from the Left Platform, Tsanaka, was absent.

Update:

Podemos' leader, P. Iglesias backs Tsipras in his worst day: "it is the only thing he could possibly do".

Iglesias is demonstrating in these last months that he really really really wants to lose the upcoming elections by not forming popular union alliance with other parties and by being a control-freak on his own party and that way renouncing to its identity of participative democracy. These declarations really shows him as totally clueless (or worse).

Update: sign to kick Germany from the EU and save Europe from Merkel and Schäuble.

We create the most heinous enemy, then we rally everyone to fight against them

Just got this from the news:

Former US defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld has said that George W. Bush was wrong to try and push democracy on Iraq and that NATO has become unfit to deal with modern threats and should be replaced by a more global alliance to fight Islamist extremism.

So many lies in one single bundle! The infamous Nixonian politician who was happily crying "dibs on Iraq" the very evening of the 9/11 false flag attacks, now blames his and Cheney's marionette Bush Jr. for it. But the really big lie is in the second part: the USA and allies have been organizing, financing and directing every single relevant Sunni Islamist extremist organization: Al Qaeda first of all but now also its offshoot the grotesque caricature called Islamic State.

The purpose? To serve as pretext for military interventions here and there. First was Afghanistan, then Libya, then Mali and Central Africa and now they want to use their murderous sockpuppet organizations to orchestrate a new Imperial organization, one including such criminal tyrannies as Israel or Saudi Arabia.

These may be lies in the form but not in the message that Rumsfeld is conveying: the Empire must be reorganized now that Europe is not anymore the main theater of the Cold War (version 2.0), now that the inter-imperialist confrontation has been moved to the neocolonial arena of Africa and the Near East.

Internationalists form "human shield" to Zionist attacks against Gaza Hospital

The genocide in Gaza continues by the mad hand of the Zionazis. They know no shame nor fear any punishment, knowing that the US Empire backs them unconditionally. They have repeatedly threatened and actually attacked, injuring two, the Al-Wafa Hospital (pictured), forcing the direction of the hospital to evacuate all those who could leave the hospital and move to the lower floors those who could not.

It is not the only medical facility attacked by the Zionazi forces, who have already murdered several patients in other similar buildings.

But the Zionazi genocidal bullying has not remained unchallenged: eight brave international activists have occupied the vacated top floors of the hospital in a near-suicidal attempt to force the hand of the Zionist colonists. The so-called Israeli Self-Defense Forces (ah, the cruel sarcasm of the gratuitous adjectives!) know that they are staying there and they hold Israel sole responsible of their lives, which they offer to save the humanitarian facility.

Corsica: National Liberation Front abandons armed struggle

FLNC press conference in 2006
The National Liberation Front of Corsica (FLNC) announced yesterday their decision of unconditionally abandoning armed struggle, beginning a demilitarization process and a gradual exit from clandestinity.

They make a call to the Corsican elects to implement a new negotiated statute with the French state, as well as an exit for prisoners and other victims of political repression.

They underline that their decision means changing from a phase of armed resistance to one of constitution of a true Corsican political power.

They recall that their historical armed action, which began in 1976, had a significant impact in the struggle against touristic speculation but that, starting now, their members will reject armed actions in Corsica and France.

They denounce that, since the invasion of 1769, which destroyed the Corsican Republic (a true forgotten pioneer of democracy in Europe and the World), France has treated the island as a colony, installing nepotism and cronyism as the centerpieces of political power.

They also link their struggle to that of other peoples of Western Europe such as Ireland, the Basque Country, Scotland and Catalonia, rejecting as well this European Union of the states
... which denies the rights of the peoples, their cultural specificities and traditions, subjecting them to the yoke of senseless rules whose only goal is the domination of big trading cartels, despising the environment, citizen health and social achievements.

Historical background

Flag of Corsica
Like many other Mediterranean islands, Corsica has a convoluted history of invasions by mainland based powers, be them European or African.  Between 1347 and 1729 Corsica was ruled by the Republic of Genoa. The Corsican Revolution achieved, after 26 years of struggle, the foundation of an independent republic in 1755, which was an influential pioneer of democracy and founded the first university of the island at Corte.

In 1767, a throughly defeated Genoa sold their "rights" to Corsica to the Kingdom of France, which invaded the island in 1769. Pasquale di Paoli, leader of the Corsican Revolution and President of the Executive Council, had to find refuge in England.

For a brief period Paoli supported the French Revolution of 1789 but soon became disenchanted with Jacobin hyper-centralism and allied himself with the English, establishing a short lived kingdom (1794-76).

The island was attributed to Britain in 1814 but London gave it to France.

After the loss of Algeria, some 18,000 French settlers (known as "pied-noirs") were installed in Corsica. Today it is estimated that some 50,000 French live in Corsica, plus some other 50,000 immigrants from other countries. Corsica has a population of c. 322,000 people, a third of them without roots in the island.

In the 1960s Corsican nationalism resurfaced and in 1976 the National Liberation Front began its armed struggle, largely directed against settlers' properties and the tourism industry. Since 1979 they managed to "bring the Corsican problem to France" by repeatedly bombing many Paris-based banks, the Court of Law and killing several military policemen.

Upon the election of social-democrat François Miterrand as President of France, the FLNC decreed a cease-fire but were soon disappointed by the French reaction and returned to struggle. On August 19th 1982 they attacked 99 targets in a single day.

A second cease-fire, this time negotiated with Paris, began in 1988 but it only caused splits within the guerrilla. These divisions stepped up in the 1990s, including deadly clashes between the factions.

In 1998 the Prefect of Corsica, Claude Erignac was killed by the FLNC.

In 2009 the FLNC was reunified. Even if not much publicized, the FLNC has been continuously carrying armed attacks against French colonial interests. In 2011, for example, they claimed responsibility of 38 attacks in just four months, however in that same communication they announced their wish for peace.

Yesterday, June 25th 2014, the FLNC declared a unilateral cease-fire, demanding a new political statute for Corsica and a solution for the political prisoners and other victims of state repression.

Physisicans reject to force-feed hunger-striking prisoners of the Zionists

The Israeli Medical Association has opposed the new totalitarian law promoted by the Zionist regime that would allow to force-feed hunger-striking Palestinian prisoners, who are protesting for being arbitrarily held without charges for very long terms, even many years.

The doctors say that force-feeding is torture and that physicians should never participate in torture.

There are at least 900 Palestinian prisoners arrested with no charges whatsoever by the Apartheid regime. 68 of them are in hunger-strike in demand of their most basic rights.

One of the most extreme cases is that of Abdel Razeg, former PLO member, who has been under administrative arrest intermittently for eight of the last 20 years.

Palestine's Apartheid in figures and facts

Categories of the Zionist Apartheid system:
  1. 5.7 million forced exiles or refugees: not recognized in any way, barred from returning to their homeland
  2. 1.6 million Gaza denizens: forced to live in this giant Ghetto.
  3. 2.3 million West Bank denizens: can only live in a fragmented 40% of the West Bank (the "Bantustan").
  4. 0.3 million East Jerusalem Palestinian denizens: can only live in East Jerusalem, no citizenship. Their homes are being regularly demolished and they see themselves often deported to Gaza.
  5. 1.3 million "Israeli" Palestinians: theoretically recognized as "citizens" but in practice only allowed to live in some areas (32% of internationally recognized "Israel"), where they lack all kind of resources. They can't marry Palestinians from other Apartheid zones.
  6. 5.9 million Jewish colonists from abroad and their descendants: full citizenship rights and allowed to live in almost all Palestine, including 60% of the West Bank. Around 1 million of them do not even live in Palestine at all and many more (~35%) have dual citizenship (USA, Russia, Ukraine, EU, etc.) This means that less than 4 million "Israeli Jews" are actually rooted in Palestine (single Israeli citizenship), even if as racist colonial oppressors.
Total aboriginal Palestinians (victims of Apartheid): 11.2 million.

Total Palestinians (Jewish colonists included, even those not even living in the country): 17.1 million.

Palestinian and South African bantustans compared (source)

In percentages:
  1. 33.3% are exiles (refugees), with no rights whatsoever in their homeland.
  2. 9.4% are Gaza ghetto denizens.
  3. 13.5% are West Bank bantustan denizens.
  4. 1.8% are East Jerusalem natives.
  5. 7.6% are "Israeli" Palestinians.
  6. 34.5% are Jewish settlers:
    1. ~ 29% live in Palestine.
    2. ~ 5% are mere foreigners with Zionist citizenship.
Total aboriginal Palestinians: 65.6%, of which less than half are actually allowed to live in just some very specific areas of their own country by the Apartheid regime.

US-EU colonial treaty protests: 240 arrested in Belgium

240 citizens were arrested on Thursday in Brussels (source), while protesting against the colonial (so-called "free trade") treaty with the United States. Among those arrested are three MPs.

The colonial treaty, for which no democratic control exists, as most things in this oppressive and deadly Europe of the Banksters, where democracy has become just an empty word, will cause a social, ecological and food catastrophe for Europe, according to those opposed to it.

Many of the current European economical problems are caused by the artificial overpricing of the euro, which is designed to help not only German but also US exports, with terrible consequences for the European working peoples, on whose shoulders is the cost of these subsidies to the core Capitalist areas being laid on.

Naturally a major concern and obstacle is the US obsession with GM crops, which are totally destructive of agriculture wherever they go. But there is much more and in general this treaty must be considered extremely negative for Europe and a clear colonial revision of trans-Atlantic relations. No wonder: when we survey the extension of the shrinking US Empire, we realize that the only "loyal" province it remains under tight US control (other than the Arabian Peninsula and the collapsing radioactive Japan) is Europe. And therefore, for the USA to improve economically even to a limited extent it must exploit Europe as a colony.

Naturally this can only result in increased tensions in this continent and further collapse of the Empire but meanwhile the pain will be extreme.

We need an independent eco-socialist and democratic Europe now! VOTE RED in the upcoming pan-European elections. Even if the Parliament has no power, it is crucial to reinforce the Left in this impoverished continent.

NATO and Russia piling up armies around Ukraine

The latest news are that the USA is reinforcing its military in Poland, while Russia is doing the same at their border with Ukraine. This happens after Crimea has formed its own separate Army (they already took over most of the Ukrainian Navy) and Gazprom declared Ukraine in default, threatening to cut the gas (what should also affect Central Europe, as we know from previous such experiences).

The latest tweets indicate that the Russians already control the air traffic in Crimea and that the border with Ukraine is controlled by Russian troops, temporarily closing all commercial transit tonight, except with Russia (it's expected to be open again by tomorrow). Transiting between Crimea and Ukraine now needs a stamped passport.

It is very possible that the situation escalates in the next hours or days, as there is no legitimate authority in Ukraine anymore, with the new Kiev government being appointed directly by Washington, packed with Nazi ministers, lacking any sort of democratic legitimacy and acting like the proverbial elephant in the china shop with the most chaos-provoking measures, such as slashing the pensions to a mere $8, persecuting Russian language or banishing major political forces like the Party of Regions or the Communist Party. Not to mention their reliance on fascist local forces and mercenaries from abroad.

It is as if Ukraine became almost overnight no man's land in the imperialist gameboard... but then of course it is packed with some 50 million people. Sadly for them, most have no political conscience nor organization and now the whole country has become free for grabs in the "Pipelinestan" wars, in which every dirty oligarch hopes to win but not of course the Ukrainian people... or should I say "peoples"?

Ukraine is reported by some to have about 1/4 or 1/3 of the known shale gas reserves on Earth, however most of it is in the Russian-speaking East, a traditional coal mining and heavy industry area. The USA and its EU protectorate want it, Russia wants to be able to manage it somehow, as their own economy heavily depends on gas exports. But for Russia much more is at stake than just the gas or the pipelines: Moscow itself is not too far away from the Ukrainian border.

The big question is: how far is the USA and its protectorates willing to bet in this conflict, because I guess it is pretty clear that Russia cannot yield a meter without signing its own death sentence in the upcoming scene of the Pipe-Wars.

Similarly China cannot and will not abandon Russia in this fight because, if Russia falls to the Western imperialism, then China would become terribly isolated, even in the highly complex case that they manage to retain Siberia in their orbit somehow. China is less and less reliant on the Russian military might, inherited from the Soviet Union, however it is probably still not ready to face the Empire alone either.

What seems clear is that Ukraine has become destitute and without any credible central power that can keep the country together, much less under such heavy foreign pressure by both sides. Crimea is already effectively and quite willingly in Russian hands, the rest of Ukraine may end up splitting in two.

But will both imperialist states actually come to war over it?

Fascism kills three more in Latin America

In Honduras they killed Justiniano Velásquez, brother of the mayor of San Francisco de Opalaca (a Lenca community), who locally leads the struggle for democracy and Native rights and self-rule. Comrade Justiniano was apparently kidnapped and then killed by some sort of death squad.

In Venezuela the fascists killed two more people by means of deadly cables hang at the height of the neck, which caught two moped riders with deadly results: Santiago Enrique Pedroza and Delia Elena Lobo Arias in separate incidents. These two innocent victims add to the body count of the fascist uprising in Venezuela, where they have already killed at least other two people: one of their own, a former Miss, who was shot by "friendly fire" according to her friends, and also a worker who marched in a pro-government demo. More people, including workers and police agents, have also been injured.

Mi'kmaq nation uprises against fracking

The First Nation of the Atlantic coasts arose against the damage to their lands caused by fracking (destroying the Earth's crust to scratch for gas and oil, disturbing the crust's stability and polluting the water).

Canadian police and army acted to repress the road blockades, using all kind of weapons from pepper spray to war dogs, from revolvers ready to fire to planting explosives in a ridiculous attempt to frame up the rebels as "terrorists", as their southern colleagues did with Leonard Peltier decades ago.

At least 40 have been arrested so far.

The conflict can end up with deadly victims any moment because the Canadian state is clearly unwilling to allow the Natives rule on their own lands (how typical), which for them are just colonies to exploit.

Palestine: Zionist colonists stage new terror attacks while the Apartheid Army watches

Just the usual, I fear, but it must be mentioned. From Electronic Intifada:

Armed settlers attack mosque, burn cars in West Bank village

Israeli settlers raided Burqa, a village near the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, on 10 October. In addition to vandalizing the village mosque, three cars were also set ablaze in front of their owners’ homes.

This attack and others appear to be in response to the recent killings of Israeli soldiers in the West Bank. A mere fifty meters down the street, the perpetrators spray-painted graffiti on the side of the mosque. “The redemption of Zion loves Tomer Hazan,” it read, referring to an Israeli soldier who was killed in the city of Qalqiliya last month.

The attack followed one in the Jalazone refugee camp, also in the Ramallah area, on 27 September. After setting two cars on fire in the camp, Israeli settlers left graffiti proclaiming that the act was revenge for the killing of an Israeli soldier in Hebron (“Settlers set two cars on fire near Ramallah,” Ma’an News Agency, 27 September 2013).

Despite the illegality of their presence under international law, Israeli settlers face virtually no consequences for their routine violence against Palestinians. Across the West Bank, these settlers have targeted Palestinian holy sites, farmers, buildings and land with increasing frequency.

“They came around 1 o’clock am and wrote on the mosque. Then they set our neighbor’s car on fire before they came to our garage and set my truck and our car on fire,” said Abu Ali Nitham, a farmer who lives at the edge of Burqa.

Confirmed: Arafat was poisoned with polonium

That is the information that Russian daily Kommersant reports today and is reflected by several media in other languages, for example RIA Novosti in French or LINyM in Spanish.

The source of the information is anonymous but said to be very close to the investigation. The results are already there and have been given to the widow, Suha Arafat, who is the one deciding if they will be published or not.

But regardless of her wishes, which may well be conditioned by other interests than the right of the public to know the truth, the conclusions are already there and seem very clear: Arafat was indeed poisoned by polonium-210, as was already strongly suspected.

The big question is: who carried on the poisoning. I have no doubt that Israel was at the very least in agreement with the murder, I strongly suspect Russia as the origin of the polonium (typical KGB mafioso method) but why nobody else in the Ramallah complex was poisoned? It seems obvious that the radioactive substance was given to Arafat in person, what means that elements of Al Fatah were involved as well.

It was indeed the Al Fatah cuppola who dissuaded Suha Arafat initially from carrying on an autopsy. So I would consider that mercenary bantustan dictator that is Abbas as the main suspect.

Bangladesh: 50,000 march for labor rights in textile industry

Some 50,000 people marched through Dhaka in demand of a salary increase of 5000 takas ($70). Workers also blockaded road access to the capital and caused damages to dozens of textile factories.

The government rejects the salary demand on the pretext that multinational corporations want cheap products. The textile sector generates 80% of Bangladeshi GDP and employs four million workers.

Palestine: Zionist troops murder three in Qalandiya refugee camp, including UN employee

Not in the mass disinformation media again.

On August 26, colonial troops attacked the Qalandiya refugee camp, near Jerusalem, in full force, shooting live fire of illegal ammunition (dum-dum bullets, illegal since more than a century ago!) against the inhabitants who could barely hurl stones in self-defense.

Three people were killed: Jihad Aslan (20), Younis Jahjouh (22) and Rubeen Abdulrahman Zayid (34, URWA worker). Other 18 people were injured, including five minors, 12 of them required surgery.

The pretext for the aggression was a search for Yousef al-Khatib, who had been released from prison by the very same colonial authorities just weeks ago. They arrested a relative of al-Khatib by error, beating him badly while zip-cuffed and blindfolded.

Al-Khatib was eventually arrested and they drove his relative back to the camp to identify him. I could barely recognize him. They had broken his nose and knocked out his teeth, and his hand was broken, he explained later.

Al-Khatib is currently arrested without charges at the Ofer military prison.

The Zionist forces claimed that they were shot at but this is rejected by the witnesses. Yehya Mteir, relative of one of the deadly victims, said:
There was only one tear gas canister fired at the beginning and one at the end, but other than that, it was all live ammunition and dumdum bullets.
There were so many people in the streets because everyone was on the way to work; usually they come in while we’re asleep. The only means of fighting we had were rocks. We had no guns or Molotov cocktails, none of us.

Even such a tendentious organization as Human Right Watch admits this version of events:
All of the people we interviewed strongly denied that Palestinians shot [live ammunition], or said that they were not aware of it,” Bill Van Esveld, a researcher for Human Rights Watch, told The Electronic Intifada. “If the Israeli military has evidence of this, they should make it public.”

UNRWA in turn explained what happened to their worker A. Zayid:
“We have nine independent eyewitness accounts which all confirm that he was unarmed, he was not involved in violence, not engaged in throwing stones, and yet he was shot with a bullet through the chest, no questions,” UNRWA spokesperson Gunness told The Electronic Intifada.
Similar reports exist regarding other victims: absolutely gratuitous murdering.

Palestinians defy ethnic cleansing with Galilee camp

From Electronic Intifada:

“This return is permanent” — refugees’ grandchildren defy Israel with Galilee camp

22 August 2013

Man picks up bar amid tents with Palestine flag and landscape in background
Iqrit village was depopulated and destroyed in 1951 but its youth vow to return.
(Ahmad Al-Bazz / ActiveStills)

Young people with family connections to Iqrit, an ethnically-cleansed village in the Galilee, assembled recently for a week-long “camp of return.”

According to organizers, more than 200 participants between eight and eighteen years old registered and attended the camp in Iqrit, which was destroyed by Israel’s military in 1951.

The village’s vibrant green hills — situated in the northern Galilee region of present-day Israel and hugging the boundary with Lebanon — are dotted with campers’ tents and the decaying rubble of demolished homes.

The “Camp of Return” has been held annually since 1996. For many years, its participants left Iqrit after only a week. Activists have, however, now decided to complement the annual camp with a constant presence in the village.

The camp was “a major success this year,” Nizar Ashkar, a 25-year-old Palestinian activist splitting his time between Jaffa and Iqrit, told The Electronic Intifada.

Over the past few years, campaigners have decided to take increasingly direct action towards realizing the right of return for Palestinian refugees and internally displaced Palestinians who were forced from their land and historic communities in present-day Israel.

In August 2012, approximately two dozen internally displaced youth from Iqrit, deciding Israel will never deliver justice on its own, took matters into their own hands and returned to their ancestral village.

According to Ashkar, “It was the first camp after the youth from the village decided to implement the right of return. It was a special camp in many ways, and so many people have learned about Iqrit in just a year.”

The camp was not limited to Iqrit’s refugees and their descendants: Palestinians from across present-day Israel, Jewish Israelis, and a handful of West Bank Palestinians who were able to obtain permits came to visit the camp throughout the week.

Aboriginal "freedom flotilla" risking all for bringing solidarity to West Papuans

West Papua is occupied by Indonesia since soon after independence. While the agreement of independence of Indonesia placed West Papua still under provisional Dutch control, the newborn Malay state soon managed to annex West Papua, which has no Malay native population, just as they did with East Timor, then under Portuguese control. The USA and UN were instrumental in this undemocratic transaction.

A new imperialism replaced the old one.

Since then low intensity guerrilla has existed in West Papua. The deposition of Suharto, that allowed East Timor to break free, saw no significant change in the conflict of West Papua, still oppressed by Indonesian imperialism, which is speeding up the colonization of the island by ethnic Malays.

Australian, Papuan and Melanesian activists, most of them Aboriginal, set sail yesterday from Cairns in what is an act of cultural-political defiance to Indonesian oppression, described as Aboriginal cultural exchange.

Indonesia has denied visa or authorization for the boat to sail in its waters and the participants acknowledge that they could even been shot down by the Navy. More likely is that they get arrested and jailed for years. That's what happened to several Australians who entered West Papua years ago without visa.

Basque internationalist arrested in Palestine

Igor Goikolea was arrested by Zionist forces in the town of Ma'Sara (or Al-Masara). In the previous days two other European internationalists (with French and Italian passports) were also arrested in that same town and expelled from the territories under control of the Apartheid regime.

A protest has been called for Monday in his hometown of Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Palestine: Ilan's weekly report on resistance and repression

From Ilan Against the Wall:

Just a pure essence of the Israeli settler colonialist rational: State responds to two High Court petitions to stop planned evacuation of eight villages in south Hebron hills (of the occupied west bank). "Israel: Eviction of 1,300 Palestinians necessary to save IDF time, money" see From the Israeli daily http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/.premium-1.539057 The Bedouin struggle refute the claim that within the 1948 borders Israel is a normal state. The joint struggle of the anarchists against the wall with the Palestinian popular grass root comities against the separation fence and colonialist settlers encroachment on their spaces is a constant call out for international action of solidarity - not for "the national liberation of the self determination of statehood" of the Palestinian elite, but for the end of occupation and transfer of the Palestinian People.

Bil'in

Friday 441th demo against the separation fence/wall (2/8/2013). 15 Israelis and a few internationals joined the weekly Palestinian demo in Bil'in against the Israeli Occupation and Apartheid. As we approached the wall, the army responded to the threat of dangerous peaceful demonstrators by surrounding us with clouds of gas. Then, when only the non-threatening shabab stayed at the front, the soldiers just stood back and watched them egg and stone the wall. A few similar rounds ensued, and when the demo finally dispersed, we celebrated the publication of Hamde's new photo book by taking a photo of us holding copies against the background of the wall and soldiers. When a demonstrator approached the wall to give the soldiers a copy of the book, they panicked, climbed down and backed away.

Sheikh Jarrah

The residents of Sheikh Jarrah are continuing their protest vigils in the neighborhood every Friday, protesting their violent evictions from their homes, the taking over of the neighborhood by the settlers, and the Judaization of East Jerusalem.

They call upon each and every person who supports their struggle to join them.

Don’t say we did not know #373

Over a year ago, settlers from Tel Rumeida, in the Old City of Hebron, planted a garden on land next to a military base. That land belongs to their Palestinian neighbor, Hani Abu Haikal, and the garden is currently the subject of a legal case. Abu Haikal has 50 olive trees on his land. On Sunday, 28th July, 2013, settlers torched the olive trees, probably coming from Tel Rumeida to do so. All the trees were damaged by the arson attack, and three were totally burned down. The settlers’ garden was not damaged by the fire at all. The IDF closed off the road to the site, but internationals managed to get there by a back way, to help to put out the fire. This marks the eighth time that the olive grove has been targeted by arson this way, and as a result, a complaint was laid with the police. The police claim that the fire was accidental.

Palestine: weekly resistance report

From Ilan Against the Wall (slightly edited in format only):

The struggle of the Bedouins within Israel against the mass transfer since the 1948 war expand to the whole of Israel and even to the areas conquered in the 1967. In addition to the regular locations of joint struggle in the 1967 areas: Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Ma'asarah, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum, Sheikh Jarah, and South of Hebron hills the Bedouins struggle drew more and more activists of the anarchists against the wall. The Arakib village struggle expand immensely with the Praver plan as the focus. Preparations for the August one actions are in vigor. Previous Saturday, a big joint demo in Rahat - the biggest town of the Bedouin region tens of thousands already transfered to: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=629028177115694
After the demo many activist traveled to the Al-Arakib village already demolished more than 50 times in the last three years.

Demonstration against the demolition of the village Al-Araqib. for 3 years this village was demolished again and again and was rebuilt. On Saturday we stood in solidarity with the village people.

Following the first 'Day of Rage' against the planned uprooting of tens of thousands of Palestinian Bedouin in the Naqab (Negev) on July 15, Palestinian activists inside Israel have called a second 'Day of Rage' for August 1. On July 15, thousands of Palestinian citizens of Israel along with Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and regional refugee camps, held numerous demonstrations against the so-called Prawer Plan being advanced by the Israeli government. Protesters marched, blocked roads, and were violently dispersed by security services (including several arrests). This second 'Day of Rage' promises to be even bigger, as Palestinians assert their opposition to a plan condemned just this week by UN human rights chief Navi Pillay.

Ma'asarah

Friday July 26. Tracking and detention of Palestinian activists // Call for access to water During the weekly protest, on the third Friday of the Holy month of Ramadan, Israeli Forces detained Mahmoud Aladeen (27), member of the Popular Struggle Committee and tracked Mahmoud Zwahre (42), coordinator of the PSC, after questioning him and holding his car for couple hours. As Zwahre was arriving in the village in his car, police border officer immediately recognized him and stopped him for questioning. Zwahre found a way to escape but he was then hunted down for an hour, soldiers entering and searching houses. Aladeen, who was with him in the car, could not get away and was detained for three hours.

The march started after the noon prayer, calling to end the Israeli occupation and its unequal exploitation of West Bank resources, focusing on access to water. For the past two month, there is not a single drop of water reaching Al Ma’asara and other villages of southern West Bank. Despite the high temperature and the particular circumstances of Ramadan, most of Palestinian villages and towns don’t have access to the necessary quantity of water and some are completely deprived.

The Local Council of South Bethlehem area requested Israeli authorities’ explanation about the restrictions on water; they were retorted that the PA is gathering all water resources toward the main cities of Bethlehem, Alhul and Hebron. But from the PA perspective the blame rests on the Israeli authorities who monopolize water for the welfare of illegal settlements.

Bil'in
Today Friday 26.07.2013 - In the demo participated an Italian Parliamentary delegation led by Luisa Morgantini (former vice president of the European parliament). Members of the PSC gave a comprehensive explanation about the Israeli violations in Bil’in for the past eight years; and they explain the strategy of the popular resistance in Palestine.

The march started after Friday prayers from the center of the village toward the Apartheid wall protecting Modiin settlement. The participants: dozen of the AATW initiative, two dozen internationals, and Palestinian villagers raised Palestinian flags and chanted slogans calling to end the occupation, to demolish the Apartheid wall and to free Palestinian political prisoners. As soon as the march reached the area near the wall, Israeli soldiers, protected behind the wall, fired rubber bullets, tear gas and sound grenades at demonstrators.

Two were injured during Bil'in weekly protest. Journalist Haitham al-Khatib (37) was hit by a tear gas canister in his back clearly aimed at him by Israeli soldiers; "in the weekly demonstration against the wall, the Israeli army threw tear gas directly at protesters. I was hit by a tear gas canister while I was taking pictures. One other protester was shot at the leg with a rubber coated steel bullet and lots of people suffered from the inhalation of the gas" and Mahmoud Samara (18) was injured by a rubber bullet in his leg. Both are reported to be well now. In addition, it was few cases of suffocation after inhaling tear gas were reported.

NABI SALEH
From early morning, Nabi Saleh was declared by the Israeli military as a “closed military zone“. The weekly protest of Nabi Saleh, headed mainly by women and children, calls to end Israeli occupation, and focused today on the prisoners’ issue. Activists chanted slogans in support for the Palestinians prisoners in Israeli prisons, for the hunger strikers among them Abadallah Barghouti and Muhamed Rimawi.

The group marched from the center of the village and attempted to reach the spring which was confiscated by the nearby settlement of Halamish. But as every Friday, the Israeli Forces attacked the non violent protest with a massive use of tear gas and rubber bullets. No injuries were reported.
Regardless, the Popular Struggle Committees will never stop their struggle against the Israeli occupation.
