9/11: follow the money (excellent documentary)

I watched yesterday this excellent video-documentary by The Corbett Report on the 9/11 money trail, and I can't but strongly recommend it:

Gladio: NATO's shadow state (I)

When Obama's former pastor, Jeremiah Wright, said that the attackers of September 9th 2001 were "America's chicken coming home to roost" he was nailing it. However the chicken are not, as he implied, bearded Islamists but rather Christian right-wing extremists who make up the real shadow government in Europe, that overseas province of the USA, and now also in the homeland as well. 

Daniele Ganser has written for Voltaire Network a series of articles in Spanish (most also available in French) on the "stay-behind" network of NATO known popularly as Gladio, it's Italian name. 

The work is almost monumental but I will try to synthesize here and in future articles the most essential of it, because it is something that we must all know about, surely more important than electoral politics and the like.

The first article deals with the best known Gladio network and the only properly deserving that name: the Italian one.

Between 1969 and 1987, the so-called years of lead, several terrorist massacres against civilians took place in Italy, inspiring fear and serving as pretext to persecute the communists, who were blamed for the attacks (just as they were blamed for the Reichstag fire by the Nazis). Not just the Brigate Rosse were persecuted until their annihilation but many many intellectuals and activists who had no part in armed struggle were as well.

Italy had the belated luck that a judge, Felice Cassone, eventually began investigating the many issues surrounding all these massacres and political attacks. As it became known in the trial, almost 15,000 acts of political violence shattered Italy between those dates, many of them being brutal indiscriminate attacks in which 491 people were killed and 1181 injured.

Cassone indicted one man, Vincenzo Vinciguerra, a fascist member of the secret organization Ordine Nuovo (New Order), who confessed that he enjoyed total protection by a whole well-positioned network in Italy as in other countries.

In the trials, General Giandelio Maletti, former chief of the Italian counter-espionage, declared that not just nearly all the Italian state was involved in Gladio but that every single attack was approved by the White House and the CIA. In his own words:

The CIA, following the orders of their government, wanted to forge an Italian Nationalism able to counter what they considered a slide to the Left and, with that goal, they could use far-right terrorism. (...) One was under the impression that the Americans were willing to do anything to impede that Italy leaned to the Left. (...) Don't forget that it was Nixon who was the head of the government and Nixon was not any common guy, he was a very smart politician but a man of very unorthodox methods. 

In 1988 the Italian Senate created a commission to investigate the matter. It was a difficult process, as witnesses did not want to speak, documents were destroyed and the Right sabotaged the investigation all they could. However in 1990 Gladio was confirmed as a very real thing. 

However the conscience of this terrorist network existed since long before. In 1974, another judge, Giovanni Tamburino, brought General Vito Miceli, commander of the SID (military secret service, later SISMI) to trial, accused of creating a secret organization that gathered civilians and officers alike, whose goal was to stir an armed insurrection in order to illegally modify the Constitution and the composition of the government.

Miceli, who had also been chief of NATO's Security Bureau, declared in anger:

Did I have a super-SID under my command? Of course! But I did not organize it myself in order to stage a coup, I merely obeyed the orders of the USA and NATO!

Giulio Andreotti

Sadly Miceli got away on bail and the network remained poorly known until the revelations of quasi-permanent Prime Minister Andreotti in 1990, who acted only on demand of the Senate and in a climate of many investigations, which even put the very godfather of Italian politics in jail for some time. It was the only occasion in which Gladio was revealed in full.

Andreotti edited his first written declaration. However Senator Gualtieri, President of the Commission, had made copies of the original version. When compared, it became obvious that Andreotti had edited all the references to international connections and the existence of Gladio in other states. 

It was such a poor trick that in his final version Andreotti admitted that Gladio was a network extending through all NATO, which in Italy was originally agreed between the CIA and the local secret services as a "stay behind" network against possible Soviet invasion. 

This cooperation was structured within NATO's Clandestine Planning Committee (CPC), founded in 1959, which was part of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). In 1964 the Italian secret services got incorporated also to the Allied Clandestine Committee (ACC). 

However Andreotti's report was in some contradiction with the declarations of Vinciguerra in the sense that the veteran politician claimed that Gladio was not involved in the terrorist attacks. He also declared that every single Prime Minister was informed of the existence of the stay-behind network, causing major embarrassment to the other Prime Ministers of the First Republic. Only the then President Francesco Cossiga acknowledged the fact, declaring his "pride" for contributing to its creation in the 1950s and to be able to keep such a secret for so long. 

Subsequent political turbulence forced his resignation in 1992.

Meanwhile Andreotti had confirmed in public audience that Gladio was a NATO structure and that it existed also in other member states, mentioning by name Germany, Greece, Denmark, Belgium and even France.

The Senate Commission concluded that:

Those massacres, those bombings, those military operations were organized, instigated or supported by people who worked for the Italian institutions and, as was discovered more recently, by individuals linked to the US intelligence structures.

Those are the "chickens" who came back "home to roost". Let's not forget that G.W. Bush' administration was almost exactly that of Nixon.

USA: some people still awakening to the reality of Imperial Presidential powers

CIA: most notorious terrorist organization (must-watch short video)

According to Ted Gundersen, former Station Chief of the FBI in Los Angeles, Dallas and Memphis, the CIA is not just behind Al Qaeda, as we know, but also behind most of the terrorism in the World:

Why? Mostly these reasons:

• Internally (in the USA and other core areas of The Empire): demolish civil and human rights and impose a permanent state of emergency, a police state.
• Justify military interventions (i.e. Afghanistan, etc.)
• Divide along sectarian lines by mean of hard to forget and forgive pointless brutal massacres (i.e. post-invasion Iraq, etc.)

The video offered here is from years ago (posted at YouTube in 2009 but looks even older). There are more recent online videos of Gundersen retelling his story but they are much longer, so I decided not to post. Also I find the content of this one particularly interesting because it dwells mostly on stuff that happened before 2001 (1993 WTC bombing, 1995 Oklahoma attack), revealing that the institutional conspiracy to demolish civil and human rights in the name of the "war on terror" had been planned since at least the Reagan and Bush Sr. presidential terms (let's not forget that Bush Sr. was once a CIA Director himself). 

Although the murderous pantomime continued under Clinton (and now with Obama) it is important to notice that the 104th US Congress that passed the first antiterrorist legislation (mentioned in the video) had a Republican majority and that it was not until a new Republican President (Bush' son incidentally) that the terrorist sockpuppeteering plan was retaken in full. Even if I do not believe in the twin party false democracy, let's admit that the Republicans are much more hawkish and ruthless.

Inquisition times again: will be executed for confessing under torture

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, accused of being the master mind of the 9-11 attacks (that were obviously the work of the US secret services) faces death penalty with the only evidence of his self-inculpation under torture. 

Mohammed was water-boarded (nearly drowned) not less than 183 times at the concentration camp of Guantanamo Bay. That was how the Inquisition got all kind of self-inculpations of witchcraft and what not: people eventually see death as a reasonably good alternative when you torture them. 

The mainstream imperial media is ignoring how the confession was forced on this man, this scapegoat for the crimes of the Bush administration.

Former Chief of Staff of Russian Armed Forces: 9-11 was a set up

In an article published at Voltaire Net, Gral. Ivashov, who was in charge of the Russian Armed Forces in 2001, confirms that the attacks of 9-11-2001 could not be any real terror attacks but that they were in fact organized by oligarchic mafias. His conclusions are:

1. The organizers of those attacks were the political and business circles interested in destabilizing the world order and who had the means necessary to finance the operation.
2. Only secret services and their current chiefs (...) have the ability to plan, organize and conduct an operation of such magnitude. Generally, secret services create, finance and control extremist organizations.
3. Osama bin Laden and “Al Qaeda” cannot be the organizers nor the performers of the September 11 attacks. They do not have the necessary organization, resources or leaders. Thus, a team of professionals had to be created and the Arab kamikazes are just extras to mask the operation.

Indeed, conspiracies are so common that judges are trained to look at conspiracy allegations as just another legal claim to be disproven or proven by the evidence.

Osama's death... for real?

I write this while I eat some haram pork sausages with halal Moroccan sauce, a curious combination that is sure to grant me at the same time the lowest levels of Hell and the highest ranks in Paradise. Do I care? Not at all.

According to the latest reports from the Pentagon, 007-series ultra-villain Goldfinger... oops, Osama Bin Laden, has been killed in some remote area of Pakistan. Do I care? Not too much (I should be writing on May Day celebrations worldwide, though admittedly I have yet to find anything worth reporting), however I have massive doubts. 

Doubt number one: was he a genuine super-villain or just a psy-op star (do they give oscars for that?) This is not really a true doubt because I have very clear that Al Qaeda was created by the CIA and that Osama was once known as the man of the CIA in Afghanistan. More so, I have also clear that Al Qaeda was eventually run as a sock-puppet villain group to generate pretexts for US imperialism and for the proclamation of emergency decrees within the USA and other countries.

Al Qaeda, let's face it, was (is?) the perfect Hollywoodian foe: provided of an incommunicable exotic and fanatic ideology unable to connect outside the Muslim ghetto (a large but poor and anyhow limited ghetto) and a right-wing reactionary powerless ideology anyhow. With or without their knowledge and participation they were attributed the most villanous (in the US one-sided worldview, Fallujah was much worse in fact) attack ever since Nagasaki... oops, since Pear Harbor (we all know that sinking US warships is much worse than flattening a whole city and murdering hundreds of thousands of civilians in a mad nuclear experiment, right?)

I have little doubt that the 9-11 attacks were orchestrated by the Pentagon (and who else?) as an insider job to get a pretext to invade Afghanistan and (quite unlikely) Iraq. They were intended to rally the country and the whole Empire behind such imperialist adventures, however they have created a crisis of trust in the mid run. So maybe it's about time of dropping the whole scheme - and getting Osama officially killed may be a way to do it. 

Also notice that wannabe Emperor Gral. Petraeus has been ranked up as CIA Director, yet he had not delivered in Afghanistan... this may be a way to pretend he has won - and move on.

Doubt number two: was he still alive? The USA had several opportunities to get him and his family in 2001, yet Washington aborted all such operations. Even French snippers had him in range and were never authorized to shoot. 

I will therefore assume that he was alive, even though rumors of his illness or death had been popping up once and again... 

Doubt number three: was he still in charge of anything? 

The fact that it was not Bin Laden but his sidekick who taped all videos (and in some cases a pathetic imitation of him was done and pretended to be true by the US authorities, even if it was so obviously false) did not only stir up doubts on Bin Laden's survival but also on his real power and role. Why did not the Caliph (as some thought of him) spoke his own fatwas and communications? 

Was maybe Osama retired in some Bahamas' resort, was he forcibly retired because he was unwilling to play the role assigned to him? 

Doubt number four: has he really been killed tonight? Or is it just another psy-op?

We must see the corpse and identify it without doubt before we believe after so many lies. Independent forsenic and genetic analysis would not be in excess and by independent I mean by someone who is not licking the Pentagon's boots all the time, maybe a Venezuelan or Cuban? I do not even trust the stand of Beijing or Moscow anymore, specially since they have been backing Washington so much in the last months.

I will be hard to convince admittedly. But you can't blame me after so many lies and deceit.

CIA and Al Qaeda agent freed by Pakistan

The details are an scandal in themselves: Raymond Davies, the CIA agent and Al Qaeda terrorist caught red handed in Pakistan after he murdered two ISI agents who were following him or maybe trying to arrest him, has been pardoned using a back door that would be unacceptable in any other legal system: payment of blood money.

But worse: the relatives of the victims were illegally arrested and pressed hard so they had no choice but to sign the pardon papers. Once Davies is out of Pakistan, as he is now, and under US protection, he will probably be never prosecuted and he will be able to stay at large.

But let us not forget that, besides being a CIA agent, a (former?) Blackwater (XE) mercenary and a murderer, he is also responsible of the following charges of Wahabbi (pro-Saudi) terrorism:

• Collaboration with Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, considered terrorist both in Pakistan and the USA and responsible of the murder of Benazir Bhutto in 2007, and at least 27 different Taliban militants (also considered terrorists)
• Pakistan's secret services, ISI, had accused him of providing nuclear and biological warfare materials to Al Qaeda

So he is an important link to demonstrate how the CIA (and Washington in general) is connected to Al Qaeda (which was originally a CIA creation) and in general to Sunni Islamism, and therefore also to add evidence on how the 9/11 attacks were an inside job.

This explains why he has been liberated but it also says that he should have never been liberated but actually subject to due process, not just because he should pay with prison for even his own life or the crime of murder but specially because there are a lot of critical information that the public must know - in Pakistan as in the USA or anywhere else around the World.

Some other stuff that is going on

Naturally I am, like nearly everybody, following with deep interest the revolutionary (and sadly also repressive) developments in North Africa and West Asia, but there is little I can say at this point that you cannot gather reading for example Al Jazeera or other media. 

But there are other interesting things going on. Briefly:

• Anonymous denounces a plan for a smear campaign against Wikileaks by US security firm HB Gary Federal in order to protect Bank of America (more at WSWS).
• Not just in the Arabias but also in Mexico: Oaxaca teachers fight riot police in a protest against usurper fascist "president" Felipe Calderón (more at WSWS).
• Attempting to stop a nuclear waste train across Germany (video at Euronews).
• Some most recent alerts from the Gulf of Mexico no-go zone (from Florida Oil Spill Law):
• So many people poisoned!
• Life not recovering at all
• Boy who swam once in the Gulf (now dying): highest PAH poisoning ever detected!
• Another oil leak 10 miles away from DWH site, corexit being sprayed
• 2002 anthrax mail case unproven, possible other case of inside job (more at Washington's Blog).

Sibel Edmonds: leaks that do not make first pages (Bin Laden worked for the USA at least till 9-11-2001)

I sometimes regret being merely human and not having more time, more arms, more brains and specially more energies to dedicate to these most important matters of information on obscured but critical matters, such as the 9/11 criminal self-attack. 

So I am not able to cover the Wikileaks "cablegate" or so many other important matters with the depth and extent they really deserve. One such critical matters is the 9/11 coup, whose consequences we are still suffering - but specially they are suffering in the USA (after Afghanistan and Iraq, whose status as main victims is unquestionable). 

Sibel Edmonds

However I must mention here FBI whistleblower Sibel Edmonds, whose knowledge on the real 9/11 conspiracy (this is just not anymore a mere "conspiracy theory", as in hypothesis or conjecture but a true theory in the factual scientific sense backed by an impressive mountain of evidence, usually gagged by various means but still available for those who search for it). 

She seems to be a key witness in the unofficial The People vs. the US Imperial Government in regard to 9/11 attacks and coup (increased repression and police control, as well as pretext for several imperialist wars, in a most corrupted scenery). For example, she says at a radio interview by Brad Blog (transcript at Let Sibel Edmonds Speak blog):

I know. For example, to say that since the fall of the Soviet Union we ceased all of our intimate relationship with Bin Laden and the Taliban - those things can be proven as lies, very easily, based on the information they classified in my case, because we did carry very intimate relationship with these people, and it involves Central Asia, all the way up to September 11.

This contradicts the official version that says that Bin Laden and his Al Qaeda terrorist organization are unrelated to the USA since the end of the Cold War, some ten years before the 9/11 attacks. This confirms that all the way up to 9/11 attacks, including the Kenya embassy bomb and some other notorious Al Qaeda-attributed attacks, the USA and Bin Laden were close friends, extending the network deep into Saudi Arabia and Turkey as well (oddly enough Israel seems to be never mentioned by Edmonds). 

As I cannot go much further into this matter by the moment, what I'm doing is adding Edmonds' new blog to my blogroll list. 

Internet-Labyrinth thread followed from Washington Blog: Pentagon Papers' Whistleblowers call for a new 9/11 investigation, where it is mentioned Ellsberg and Gravel emphasize that the testimony of Edmonds is more important maybe than all the Wikileaks cables and has the potential of bringing to jail core figures of the North American political establishment, specially from the Bush administration. 

From Kennedy's murder to 9/11

Why was US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK) murdered in 1963? This never fully clarified matter seems to be directly related to the rise of the Military-Industrial Complex and its associated Secret Services conspiracies, against which his predecessor Eisenhower (whose vice-president was Nixon!) warned in his farewell address. 

Recently I found myself defending Kennedy as the last US statesman for the simple fact that he was able to understand that, in order to prevent violent resolution of social conflicts peaceful avenues of solution had to be generated, that if you keep the pot at max. fire and capped, a little boiling disaster will come to your kitchen.

It seems that his stature and therefore his internal enemies were even larger. 

I must say that I'm no fan of Kennedy: it was under him that the blockade against Cuba began and he was not able to control his secret apparatus. But at least he tried and that cost him dearly. 

That is precisely what Andrew Gavin Marshall explores in his latest article at Global Research: The National Security State and the Assassination of JFK. The CIA, the Pentagon and the 'Peace President'. 

What he outlines has tremendous repercussions on how later US (and therefore global) history would evolve. Since JFK's murder the Secret State took over the USA in an every day firmer grip, which culminated in the self-attack of September 11 2001 and the permanent state of emergency (allowing for warrantless arrests, searches and eavesdropping of citizens and foreigners alike) in place since that date. 

In a related article with a more recent focus, also at Global Research, Peter Dale Scott, explains how the Secret State evolved since Reagan. Ronald Reagan was after all, when still Governor of California, who chose Col. Louis Giuffrida to become part of his team, eventually leading to his promotion to chief of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Reagan had noticed Giuffrida after he wrote an essay proposing the forced internment of millions of Afroamericans in concentration camps, à la Hitler.

9/11: key companies profited from insider trading by knowing in advance about the attacks

Original and surely better explained story by Kevin Ryan at Foreign Policy Journal (also at Global Research, where I found it).

While we wait to see if the much announced new Wikileaks release will finally provide key evidence on the insider job that were the 9/11 attacks, more modest research keeps providing circumstantial evidence of this quite clear fact.

In this case it seems it's just a journalist, a good one indeed, joining the dots of so many investigations on insider trading benefiting from knowing in advance about the attacks.

Oddly enough while all these investigations conducted around the globe found quite clear evidence of such criminal insider trading, all them were archived because the speculators could not be related to Al Qaeda.

This is an example of the circular logic often used by those who created the official explanations for 9/11.  The reasoning goes like this: if we assume that we know who the perpetrators were (i.e. the popular version of “al Qaeda”) and those who were involved in the trades did not appear to be connected to those assumed perpetrators, then insider trading did not occur.

Or did it?

All those investigations indicate that some people and companies did profit from the attacks but as the culprit of such attacks is supposed to be a long vanished bearded guy with a turban in some remote cave of the Hindu Kush... case closed. Osama did not benefit from insider trading related to the 9/11 attacks, at least not apparently.

Instead companies such as UAL (owner of United Airlines) and AMR (ower of American Airlines), each losing two planes in 9/11, did. How curious! But they are not Osama bin Laden, so they are innocent. Are they not?

Other such innocent company who profited from the non-existent insider trading around 9/11 attacks, was Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC), whose offices were destroyed by American Airlines Flight 11, when it crashed against the North Tower, exactly on all them. 256 employees and 60 consultants of the company lost their life that day.

Marsh also had a number of offices in the South Tower.

According to Wikipedia, its subsidiary Marsh Inc.:

On October 11, 2001 Marsh established a crisis consulting practice specializing in terrorism, with Ambassador L. Paul Bremer as Chairman and Andrew R. Daniels as President and COO. Marsh also announced a partnership with Control Risks Group to provide political risk assessment.

Bold type is mine. Bremer, who would beome proconsul of Iraq after the 2003 invasion, was that very day of 9/11 blaming Al Qaeda, Iran and Iraq and demanding a blockade against these countries.

Also:

In July 2007 Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. was ranked first in Business Insurance's world's largest brokers list.

How curious. 

The fourth large beneficiary of  non-existant insider trading was Citigroup. From the original article:

Citigroup was the parent of Travelers Insurance, which was expected to see $500 million in claims, and also Salomon Smith Barney, which occupied all but ten floors in World Trade Center (WTC) building 7.  Oddly enough, Salomon Smith Barney had both Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney on its advisory board until January 2001.

But they don't wear turban and shave every day, so guess it's all fine, right?

Wrong!

Other less important people and companies mentioned in this research are:

• Wirt D. Walker III, a client (in the Roman sense of the term: a vassal) of George Bush Sr. He and his wife Sally earned some $50,000 but the FBI did not even interview them, as they had "no ties to terrorism". However as Ryan explains, Walker had connections with Osama bin Laden.
• Amir Ibrahim Elgindy, an Egyptian-born Chicago stock trader who on 8/11/2001 attempted to make one such advantageous trade claiming that Dow Jones would collapse soon. Again he was not interviewed by the FBI but he would be briefly arrested in 2002 along with two FBI agents, Jeffrey A Royer and Lynn Wingate, who were on his track and also profited. Elgindy, who seems a small time insider rather than a big fish, was eventually convicted in 2005.
• Viisage Technologies who would benefit from increased use of facial recognition techniques, and related to the Saudi American Bank, eventually convicted of helping Bin Laden in Sudan in the 1990s.
• Wellington Management, which allegedly held large accounts for Osama bin Laden. The case was dropped in spite of the Boston firm effectively having accounts of the other Bin Ladens. 

These all seem less important or at least less clear cases. 

More interesting is the information recovery job from hard disks found at Ground Zero, much of which was done by German company Convar. 

In December 2001, Reuters reported that “Convar has recovered information from 32 computers that support assumptions of dirty doomsday dealings.” Richard Wagner, a data retrieval expert at Convar, testified that “There is a suspicion that some people had advance knowledge of the approximate time of the plane crashes in order to move out amounts exceeding $100 million.

$100 million is some big money, right?

There is more recent information anyhow: in January this year a Swiss financial team again found evidence of insider trading involving five airline companies (including United, American and Boeing) and four financial companies (three of them based in the WTC and the fourth being Citigroup, owner of WTC7).

In April another report, this time from an international team found that:

... there was a significant abnormal increase in trading volume in the option market just before the 9/11 attacks, and they demonstrated that this was in contrast to the absence of abnormal trading volume over periods long before the attacks.  The study also showed that the relevant abnormal increase in trading volume was not simply due to a declining market. Their findings were “consistent with insiders anticipating the 9-11 attacks.”

One of the objections I have found when exposing the case for the 9/11 attacks being an elaborate insider job is that for many such a complex operation would require the knowledge of too many people, more than a conspiration they'd be like a mob. However the evidence quite clearly indicates that large sectors of the oligarchy (and some sidekicks, it seems) knew in advance from all this and actively or passively participated in the plot.

What is difficult for these people is to understand how the oligarchy works. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, goes the saying, and similarly what happens in certain aristocratic circles stays within them. They just think and organize themselves at a totally different level of normal people. 

Still, when you follow for instance the blackmail to which so many workers have been subject in the comparable scandal of the Gulf of Mexico oil catastrophe and see that they are most reluctant to talk to the media, even when they are getting sick, for fear of losing their jobs, you realize that even with common people, the mafioso organization of modern capitalism can achieve incredible levels of passive complicity. Simply put: people instinctively know that they have a lot to lose and nothing to win from speaking up when such mighty powers are pushing in the direction of silence and obscurantism. 

If this can happen with common, essentially good hearted and honest, people, what cannot be achieved in the elite oligarchic circles where to gain entrance is necessary to show total lack of morals and an almost compulsive tendency to lie, specially in public. 

It's like expecting some demon from Hell to stand up and denounce the Devil (I Christian mythology but in this case it does help). Why would they would that? They have all to lose and nothing to gain, and they only think in such terms not in terms that we commoners consider moral or ethic. 

As Machiavelli exposed a prince has not to behave morally, but he has to pretend to be moral. So they go to church every Sunday and write beautiful speeches full of convincing morality. Then they get together and plan some mass murder. That's how power reality works.

I insist, read the original research article at Foreign Policy Journal or at Global Research. Not just Ryan explains some stuff better than I can do but also all the bibliography is there.

Dangerous politcians to be wary of: Cass Sunstein

According to the information gathered by A. Higgins, Cass Sunstein (left) has simultaneously defended legal inaction against the many crimes of the Bush administration and at the same time advocated for the persecution of conspiracy theorists. His profile as defender of the Bush administration is also scrutinized by Washington's Blog.

Per Wikipedia he now holds the charge of Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, one among 39 'czar' departments, which is in charge of reviewing collections of information under the Paperwork Reduction Act and developing and overseeing the implementation of government-wide policies in the areas of information technology, information policy, privacy, and statistical policy. In other words: he is in charge of overseeing the Internet.

In regard to the so-called conspiracy theories (a wide array of unproven speculations but also relatively proven facts, specially regarding the so-called war on terror) he is concerned by how the diffusion of these (obviously he's thinking in the 9-11 Truth movement, not UFOs) could undermine the government promoted war on terror (whose results are more institutionalized terror and less safety and freedoms for all, either in the USA, West Asia or anywhere else). In this sense he advocates by secret service infiltration of chat rooms, forums and in general the Internet in order to manipulate the facts, cast doubts, etc. (psy-ops).

He also advocates for manipulating independent researchers by providing them with (false?) information and prodding them from behind the scenes.  He acknowledges that this must be done subtly or otherwise the government's credibility would be again questioned.

Sunstein has also argued for the legal framework to be defined not by judges but the Presidential cabinet, what sounds to a direct attack against the principle of checks and balances and evidences his authoritarian tendencies.

He also defended the right of former US President George W. Bush to appoint military commissions without Congress approval, another strike against division of power. He is obviously a hardcore presidentialist or to put in US political language: monarchist. He'd be happy in Putin's Russia, I guess.
