It all seems joy at a World Football Cup but the reality in Rio de Janeiro is very different for the poor people who built their own homes on the outskirts of the populous city and now see how the city and UEFA want to kick them out without providing any alternative housing, indemnities or anything, just to make room for a new huge stadium.
Al Jazeera Viewfinder has a lengthy report on the conflict, including interviews and a video documentary. One thing is clear: the residents of Vila Autódromo will not be kicked out without a fight.
