Peru: protesters besiege Congress, violent clashes

Police responded with tear gas and water cannons, among other weapons, to the attempt by demonstrators to reach the Congress of the Republic in Lima. The protests are being held against the new Public Service Law and have clogged all major cities, including Cuzco, Arequipa, Lima, Iquitos, Cajamarca, Ayachucho or Ica.

In Lima it was mostly the student demo the one involved in the clashes, which left three injured among civilians and two among police forces.
