Portuguese general strike a total success.

Telegraphically:

Almost 100% of following in the companies reported (with very few exceptions and many with total following).

144 out of 155 arrivals cancelled at Lisbon airport. Only four out of 147 departures could proceed. Similar figures for Oporto (Porto) and Faro.

Subway 100% closed at Lisbon.

77% of trains stopped.

70% of urban buses stopped.

Volkswagen-Autoeuropa 90-100% stopped.

Viana do Castelo shipyard 100% stopped.

Education and Social Security 85-90% stopped.

Porto subway 90% stopped.

100% of nurses, administrative workers and cleaners joined the strike in many hospitals.

80% stopped at Call-center.

National Mint: 100% stopped.

Lisbon Harbor closed.

Universities closed, 100% following.

Many other reported companies 70-100% following (except one with only 50%).

The government is, of course, pretending nothing happened and claiming only 19% of following. This is the same that happened in Spain on September 27th and only shows how sick, how immoral, what kind of compulsive liars are our politicians that they cannot even admit a defeat.

Even the bourgeoisie is adhering to this strike: the National Association of Small and Middle Companies has declared that they support this strike and will pay full salaries to striking workers.
