Time out

I'm taking a time out from this blog (although this does not preclude to write one or two articles meditating on this hyper-eventful year or maybe some breaking news that makes me jump on my chair). What I am definitely quitting is at to try to keep track and commenting or even just mentioning of every other protest, killing, war or revolution around. It is impossible for me to keep track, much less at the speed and intensity of today's events. I will ponder what I want to do with this blog and certainly I welcome suggestions. Thanks.

  1. I can understand your position quite well!

The only advice I can give you--if you know something that the rest of us should know, please tell us. Some of us will listen...

  2. I'd be happy to do that... I just do not have the energies. As I was telling some other reader by email, I get more than 100 news alerts every day (including genetics, anthro and such but many many are news and politics, and I could certainly get even more if I wished)... and I can't manage analyzing and commenting them all (or extracting a sample of them) regularly, while feeling comfortable and enjoying it. It has become a job of sorts and when it becomes a job (and specially you don't get paid for it) you know that you are doing something wrong and it's time to re-evaluate.

  3. If the words don't come boiling out of you, don't write them--that's unpaid work for a world largely bent on amusing itself to death. If writing and posting isn't its own reward, don't do it. There are many ways to make this world a better place, and hopefully you have found other ways.

I hope you do post your thoughts every once in a while, even if it is only once a year. Perhaps you could try ranting or telling stories that contain wisdom? Don't worry about pleasing anyone else but yourself.

I wish I'd discovered your website long ago. :-(

  4. "If the words don't come boiling out of you, don't write them"...

Exactly my thoughts. Of course any author, even a blog author, needs some self-discipline... but the over-information of the Internet era and hyper-agitation of this particular year (it has been brutal: surely the most game-changing year in all my life, excepted arguably that of my own birth: 1968) have taken a toll on me and I ended up doing things for almost just self-imposed obligation.

"I hope you do post your thoughts every once in a while, even if it is only once a year".

More often than that I hope. However I will need to rethink what I want to say/echo and how.

In any case I am truly glad that my little effort in this "trench" has been welcomed by at least some. And if I'm taking a time out it is specially because I want to do it even better, even if that means doing less. We'll see.
