Basque Country: Nazi alert in Bilbao

This armed (and truly dangerous) man who looks so much like Sylvester Stallone is a well known Nazi from Valladolid (Castile), plays the guitar in the Nazi music band "Más que palabras" ("More than just words") and is suspect of several violent aggressions in his hometown and in Santander. He's known as "Albertito" and I could not find his full name online (although it's probably known).

On May 23, he attacked a Cantabrian independentist in the city of Santander, to whom they followed from Bilbao in the bus. When the victim reported to police, these sarcastically asked him: "why do you think he attacked you and not me?"

Stupid question proper of a stupid man who should (but will not) be suspended on his functions as police agent. 

It is believed that the Nazi cell that Albertito is organizing in Bilbao already attacked an immigrant worker in the subway in 2010 (Bilbao subway has extreme security measures, yet they got away).

The Nazi thug and potential assassin has apparently organized a small cell of Nazis in Bilbao who organized a "protest" in "solidarity" with the murderer of Clément Méric in Paris two months ago. These are their faces:

One in three women is victim of sexist violence at home

That is what Al Jazeera reports based on a WHO report. The figure of ~37% is similar across Asia and Africa, being somewhat lower but still very worrisome in the First World (~23%). 

Domestic violence leaves a dramatic legacy in survivors and children alike:

Women with a violent partner were twice as likely to suffer from depression and develop an alcohol problem, compared to women who did not experience abuse.

Victims of violence were also found to be far more likely to contract a range of sexually-transmitted diseases, from syphilis to HIV.

The study also flagged the higher likelihood of abused women having an unwanted pregnancy, an abortion, or an underweight baby - and their children were more likely to become abusers or victims in adulthood.

In the USA a major issue is that victims of domestic violence can be fired for their aggressors' behavior. Only six states have laws against it and real cases of such workplace repercussions of domestic violence are not uncommon at all (~70% of sexist violence victims are harassed or attacked at work by their "partners", being murder at their aggressor's hands a major cause of death in the workplace among women, and many of them have lost their jobs as result of their aggressor's violence spilling into the victim's job) → TP.

Unemployment and desperation behind the Rome attack

As you may know by now, Luigi Preiti, 49, unemployed bricklayer and lone desperado, shot several military police agents (carabinieri) in Rome. Himself and a random pedestrian also resulted injured in the shooting. One of the agents is in critical condition. 

Apparently Preiti did not originally intend to shoot the policemen but rather the political leaders of the country, whom he blames for his own desperate situation, which is similar to a quickly growing fraction of the European citizenry.

Recently I met an old friend in the street and she, always so expressive and direct, wondered how with all this situation of growing unemployment, generalized draconian cuts in salaries and social services, absurdly high direct taxes, etc. the situation was still so relatively calm, how is it possible that the people is not taking the streets and burning everything... yet. I shrugged and replied that it was obviously because of fear of the police and that anyhow, it would not be long before that happened.

I also mentioned that some of that was already happening, especially in Greece, but that the level of desperation elsewhere was only then beginning to reach the red lines. 

First people protest peacefully, then they set themselves on fire or jump out of balconies that they don't own anymore and eventually they begin doing what Preiti just did. It's unavoidable: when you destroy the economy to satisfy the greed of the rentier high bourgeoisie behind the banks, when you get people dumped to the streets and tell them to look for a job that does not exist, almost literally removing the ground under their feet... they get very angry. 

When they see that the word "democracy", literally: "people's power", has become empty and meaningless and that the only people ruling here are a bunch of selfish bloodsucking banksters, with almost no hope of things changing with the necessary speed (or any at all, because the electoral systems are rigged everywhere to keep all revolutionary options marginal, while the media is in the same hands as the banks and the non-democratic governments), then you get Luigi Preiti.

And more that will unavoidably come: governments that do not serve the people will unavoidably find the people uprising, no matter what "democratic" varnishes they use. 

Alright, this is so far a single man uprising, but there are obviously so many that feel exactly the same... just that they don't own a weapon, just that they may be hold back out of fear or realization of relative pointlessness of such a solitary act or that they feel it would not be fair to kill any single individual for a problem that is so terribly collective. 

But unavoidably desperation feeds violence and if tyranny becomes more visible, more painfully obvious, as it seems to be the plan of our bourgeois masters, it can only further legitimize any sort of violence. 

I really feel that Europe is in a cul-de-sac in which the only option is revolutionary change. Obviously the managers of the economy, the high bourgeois (or banksters), and their subservient managers of the res publica, political leaders, are failing to provide the basics of life and that can only lead in one direction: revolutionary change. 

It will be painful, of course, but it is already unbearably painful.

Spain: frustrated bomb attack against Madrid cathedral

A newborn armed group known as Insurrectionalist Commando Mateo Morral has claimed responsibility for a failed bomb attack yesterday against the Cathedral of La Almudena in Madrid (pictured), one of the most important sees of the Catholic Church in Spain.

The communication, which can be read in Spanish language at Contra Info, they claim as goal to strike against the Bourbon Monarchy in its sacred places. They say, among other things, that:

All their majestic appearance is just the fruit of oppression and will be us the oppressed ones who will finish it through insurrectional revolutionary violence. We won't fall in the trap of awaiting for the historical conditions to come. We believe that the conditions for the attack are propitious as long as State, Capital and even more the rotten fascist Royal Family exist. We are determined. We do not wait. We take action.

We do not have the wrong idea that with just this kind of actions we will achieve the destruction of all that oppresses us. We do not deceive ourselves. We do not fall into self-complacency. This is propaganda through action, which has existed for more than a century among the seditious and conspirators against Power. It is an appeal to war without limits using all our imagination and energy to end with this rotten reality. 

The bomb, hidden in a trash bag, was found by the local priest at a confession boot, proceeding immediately to evacuate the church and to call police. These found inside a 'real' bomb made of 200 grams of gunpowder and a can holding a a kilogram of nails and an alarm clock, which they managed to deactivate.

A background for this attack may be the occupation of the Cathedral by some 30 victims of mortgage law in Spain (which is one of the worst on Earth, allowing the debt to continue even after foreclosure, causing de facto slavery by debt). The Bishop of Madrid did not tolerate this occupation and asked police to intervene, although the incident ended up without injuries with the occupants leaving under threat.

Recently there was also an, also failed, parcel bomb attack against the Catholic Church of Spain: a small bomb was preventively exploded by police at a post office, inside the package, addressed to the Bishopric of Madrid, there was a piece of cardboard with the legend: 'ultimate love toys', which is apparently a commercial brand of dildos.

Note: Mateo or Mateu Morral was a famous Catalan Anarchist who attempted to kill King Alfonso XII in 1906 with a bomb hidden in a bunch of flowers that he threw against the royal parade in Madrid, killing several but not the monarchs. A historical video can be watched here[es].

France: Amiens burns overnight

An indelicate arrest amidst growing police-neighbor tensions triggered a riot in the suburbs of Amiens, the capital of Picardie in Northern France, considered among the poorest and most conflictive areas of the Republic.

The conflict, which is reminiscent of the 2005 and 2007 banlieue riots, has only been responded by President Hollande with the announcement of hard police measures, demonstrating that he is not substantially different from his predecessor the arrogant ultra-conservative Sarkozy. 

While the average French youth unemployment is 23.5% in the impoverished class ghettos known as banlieues it can be just massive, causing immense frustration.

Antifascist cell attacks Nazi meeting at Chicago

Location of the incident

The Neonazi meeting, which pretended to hide under the pretext of a wedding party or an Irish heritage meeting but had been publicized in the infamous Nazi Internet forum Stormfront for its real intentions, was attacked by a group of 30 activists who beat the Nazis causing them several injuries and effectively sabotaging the meeting.

Romney was a bully - and a bully is always a bully

Bullying is one of the worst social dynamics that can happen in school (or otherwise among kids, among adults such behaviors are often camouflaged or repressed, not that they do not exist) and there's nothing worse than a bully, really (well maybe all the kids who instead of kicking his face laughed at his institutional violence). 

Bullies, as we know, are actively recruited to become policemen or otherwise thugs for the wealthy. But they begin their training as kids. Bullies suck!

Worst of bullies is that they do not really feel like you or me: they are sadics. 

And now it has been known that Mitt Romney, the Mormon fundamentalist conservative candidate for Emperor (US President) was a bully in school. According to Al Jazeera, the thug insulted allegedly homosexual classmates, attacked a blind teacher among psychotic laughs and, in the most striking case of his stupidity and insensibility, he, along with some other thugs companions, pinned down a classmate and cut his hair with a pair of scissors. 

I doubt someone like this can be considered a normal person, certainly not someone to be given any authority. Against what actually happens, policemen and security guards should be also screened for this kind of psychological behaviors because you don't want a bunch of psychopaths with so much power, but certainly you don't want them to be ministers or presidents or CEOs of anything. 

There should be psychological screening against psychopaths getting too much power. There are not so many systematic bullies in each class, it should be not so difficult to get them to do some less dangerous job like sweeping the streets or whatever. They should never be given any power, never!

Manifesto of Savas Metoikidis, who took his life on April 21st, out of desperation and rage, in Athens

As mentioned back in the day, Savas Metoikidis (pictured), who had been active fighting against the socio-economic destruction of Greece by Capitalism, eventually took his life on April 21st. It was known that he had left a manifesto of sorts but the contents have not been known until today:

One person severely injured by police after fascist-triggered incidents in the Athletic-Schalke football match

Nazi drunkards causing trouble

An unnamed man, 28, was very severely injured yesterday in Bilbao when the western Basque Police Corps, Ertzaintza, shot a rubber bullet to his head. 

According to the medical report the victim remains in the Intensive Care Unit of Basurto Hospital with cranial fracture caused by burst, with severe brain injuries. He was reanimated with sedatives and is kept with mechanical ventilation. His forecast is most severe.

Friends of the victim are asking[es] for witnesses and/or any evidence such as a video of the attack. 

The Nazi hooligans of the Schalke-04, a German football team, ignited clashes in the stadium when they were placed just above local supporters in a clear case of security mishandling. The clashes later had offshoots in the streets where two people were arrested for allegedly throwing bottles against masked riot police agents.

Former British minister to Spain: 'If they want ETA's dissolution, they must make compromises'

Who used to be Tony Blair's Chief of Staff and a key person in the peace negotiations of Northern Ireland, Jonathan Powell, could not say it more clear:

If you want the dissolution of an armed organization, if you want to move ahead, you must get involved, make compromises and engage in dialogue. That is what we learned in Ireland. 

Powell is co-signatory of the declaration of Aiete, pushing for a peace process in the Basque-Spanish conflict, together with former UN Secretary General Kofi Anan, former Norwegian Prime Minister and head of WHO, Gro Harlem Brundtland, former Taoiseach Bertie Arhern, veteran French politician Pierre Joxe and the leader of the Sinn Feinn Gerry Adams.

The declarations were made in a European Parliament conference organized by some MEPs and which gathered some one hundred attendants, many of them political representatives from all around the European Union. 

Powell also said in reference to ETA and the Basque National Liberation Movement:

If one advances towards peace so suddenly, one can end up exhausted. Therefore the importance of doubling efforts and moving ahead, so nothing is gone to waste. 

He also said that the current lack of a proper peace process can lead to new violence:

Peace is a process not an event. If there is no process, a vacuum is created which can eventually be filled with violence. Therefore a process is needed to reach to a solution and that also applies to Basque Country and to Spain. You can't reach to any agreement if there is no process. 

And:

A conflict does not go away just because we wish so. The Government demands the dissolution of ETA but any such organization does not dissolve itself just like that. Even the Police Chief of Northern Ireland told us that negotiation would be necessary to solve the problem. We talked to the IRA...

Italian skin head tifossi attack Russian football aficionados in the center of Bilbao

Surreal but real: a group of 30 or 40 masked skinheads attacked today some Russian supporters of the Lokomotiv (Moscow football team) who were drinking and singing in the center of Bilbao (Basque Country), bothering no one according to witnesses.

Apparently the attackers are Italian supporters of basketball team Montepaschi of Siena, which had lost against the Bizkaia hours earlier.

The Russian supporters who were so violently beaten by the fascist mob are local residents, mostly students, who had gathered to support their home team at San Mames. At least one is seriously injured.

From the Net 'India Factory Workers Revolt, Kill Company President' (Forbes)

Workers at the Regency Ceramics factory in India raided the home of their boss, and beat him senseless with lead pipes after a wage dispute turned ugly.

The workers were enraged enough to kill Regency’s president K. C. Chandrashekhar after their union leader, M. Murali Mohan, was killed by baton-wielding riot police on Thursday. The labor violence occurred in Yanam, a small city in Andra Pradesh state on India’s east coast. Police were called to the factory by management to quell a labor dispute. The workers had been calling for higher pay and reinstatement of previously laid off workers since October. Murali was fired a few hours after the police left the factory.

The next morning, at 06:00 on Friday, Murali went to the factory along with some workers and tried to obstruct the morning shift, local media reported. Long batons, known as lathis in India, were used by police who charged the workers, injuring at least 20 of them, including Murali. He died on the way to hospital, according to The Times of India. Hundreds of workers gathered outside the police station and demanded that officers be charged with homicide.

After a short wave at the beginning of the century, instances of proletarians taking their bosses hostage or threatening to blow up their factories reappeared in 2009, and have since become something of a trend. We can now count as many as twenty cases since the beginning of 2010.

What took place at Siemens is quite representative of the context in which such struggles emerge. In September 2009, the management of this metallurgical engineering company announced 470 redundancies at the Montbrisson site and the outright closure of the Saint-Chamond site. In keeping with an agreement signed on the 12th of February the trade-unions prepared a counter-proposal to save jobs, but the negotiations came to nothing. “The management no longer listens” one employee noted. The workers then organised demonstrations, blocked the motorways, and went on strike at the Montbrisson site, but these efforts were fruitless. Then on Monday the 1st of March 2010, the employees at the site of Saint-Chamond took two of the group’s executives hostage in order to force the resumption of negotiations. The employees announced the actions were “mandated by all of the staff”, in response to “the blockage of all negotiations”. Reached by telephone the executives taken hostage described their situation in the following manner : “[The employees] have let us know that we are going to be held for as long as there has not been the progress in the negotiations that they wish to see, especially over the increase in compensation beyond the legal minimum for those who have been discharged.” After being locked up for one night they were released and the following day an agreement with management was reached. It confirmed the closure of one of the sites, reduced the number of jobs that will be cut and accepted an increase in compensation from 35,000 to 45,000 euros.

Cases of threats to blow up the factory have also been repeated in 2010, following the example of New Fabris the year before, a struggle which enabled the employees to receive a compensation over the legal minimum of 12 000 euros. This method was used in 2010 at Sodimatex, an automotive equipment manufacturer, and the same month also at the Brodard Graphique printing house and at Poly Implant Prothèse, a manufacturer of breast implants, where on the 12 of April 2010 the employees threatened to set the premises on fire. Eric Mariaccia, a representative of the CFDT union, stated the following : “We have made Molotov cocktails and placed highly flammable products at the site’s entrance.” The workers also spilled several thousand prosthesis in front of the site and set fire to tyres.

Even-though the usage of such methods seems unthinkable in other western countries, in France they are considered acceptable by a large proportion of the population.

Hello World: welcome to the Basque Country... or what's wrong with police

25 years ago, when I was studying in the USA we had a canoing accident, well the other canoe had it and two friends got stranded in a island in the middle of a  river all wet and such. Eventually, after exhausting our helping potential we had to resort to the emergency services (including throwing a pack of matches in a lantern, which was eventually very helpful). Chris said: we have to go to the police. I felt very uncomfortable about it and, while I do not remember the exact conversation, certainly conveyed the idea of "I'd rather not". He dismissed my fears "explaining" to me that police in the USA were the good guys, not like in my country, he understood. 

However he was clearly wrong. Even if we obviously needed at that point any kind of help and local police was in fact the way to go, police is nowadays showing their real nature also in the USA, gratuitously beating peaceful demonstrators, often endangering their health... and being filmed in the act most of the time.

Why?, asks AlterNet and so many other well thinking US-Americans. Why?! Because they are police and they are paid to protect the Capitalist state and obey it. It's their job, which is a poor excuse but that's all those guys know. No, they won't go on strike in solidarity with their victims, no, they won't disobey their orders. In fact many are fascist thugs that enjoy being able to do that with almost total impunity.

I was not really wrong about distrusting the police in that accident and would my friend have been black instead of white, he'd probably have known better, because minorities, specially African Americans know that since always.

And Basques too. 

And so many others. 

So now when US-Americans wake up to the barely varnished fascist brutality of their state and their police (it's not just Oakland: it's everywhere), I feel vindicated in my understanding of the reality. 

I was later again in the USA, in New York City, where I was introduced to a Native American who sold stuff at the street. He told us a bit sarcastically: "Welcome to my country". I immediately noticed the sad wink. 

So now that US-Americans are waking up from the cushy dream of prosperity and apparent freedom... now that the violent reality of Capitalism shows itself in the shape of a rubber bullet shot against your head, of batons mercilessly destroying your body powerless on the floor... and what you haven't yet seen...

I have to bid you also a welcome: welcome to my reality, welcome figuratively speaking to the Basque Country, where all that is normal - sadly enough. 

It is of course not just the Basque Country: it is South-Central Los Angeles, it is Haiti, it is Colombia, it is West Sahara, it is Palestine, it is Kurdistan, it is Kashmir, it is Tibet, it is Chechnya, it is Ethiopia, it is Syria, it is Yemen, it is Greece... 

... and now it is also Oakland, Denver, Richmond, Washington D.C., New York, Tulsa, etc. 

Familiar for me, unexpected for you. With sadness I bid you welcome to my reality:

Welcome to the Basque Country, welcome to the Harsh Reality of the Capitalist State and its violence. 

I wish I could welcome you to a better place... but this is Hell in fact.

Police violence in Oakland (California) leaves one person struggling for his life - General Strike called

Several blogs I follow have emphasized this operation. Yesterday Ah, Mephistopheles! reported of a huge crowd of riot police slipping under the shadows of the night through the Californian city (look at the video and count them please: they may well be many hundreds or even a thousand). Later they were at Snow Park besieging the tent camp.

Earlier in the day the Occupy Oakland crowd had shut down for a while the Chase Bank and occupied the streets with large demos.

The whole strength of the police violence is captured by videos at Jews sans frontieres and Washington's Blog: tear gas and rubber bullets were shot at the protesters without any safety consideration, right to the face.

According to Washington's Blog, the Occupy movement has called for a General Strike next Wednesday Nov 2nd. There is debate about calling for a Worldwide general strike for next year. See at Twitter.

(Honestly I have my reservations, it looks leftist in the Leninist sense of the word: unready. But we have seen many unexpected things this year out of raw enthusiasm and spontaneous organization so, well, it may work after all - but it can also fail and show some of the limits of the movement at this stage. Of course, I hope it works: right-wing Communism, if such must be said of the USSR and such, has already failed catastrophically, so maybe leftism can work after all).

16 people have been killed in this Sunday's violence in the SW corner of Palestine: in Gaza and the neighboring Zionist colony of Ashod.

15 were ethnic Palestinians, one ethnic Jewish.

15 were killed by the IDF, one by some Palestinian armed group.

At least some of those killed by the Zionist armed organization IDF presented horrible wounds, wounds of a kind unheard of... except for the last time that the criminal organization IDF attacked Gaza Strip, where the natives of the country have been dumped in order to make room for colonists from Europe, etc.

It is possible that they have been caused by experimental weapons such as DIME.

We could well say that using such weapons is of more than dubious morality but nothing that Israel does against the Palestinian natives has any sort of morality or ethics. For instance, as occupant power, Israel has the obligation to protect civilians and cannot, in legal theory, go bombing around or targeting people for assassination. If it has to perform any arrests it has to do with guarantees, trial, etc., even if the trial is military.

There is nothing ethical about this: this is almost exactly like the attacks that the Nazis made against Jewish ghettos in Europe in the 1940s. Not even Apartheid South Africa did this kind of stuff (and they commit very brutal crimes) against the marginalized non-white populations.

Some of the victims are activists but others were civilians, including several children. What fault had this kid, Islam?

In the mainstream media you will probably almost only hear about the retaliation by means of home-made Kassam rockets, which killed on person. Even in Al Jazeera (which is taking a quite stinky slant since the Arab Spring is threatening the absolutism of its owner) the emphasis is on the only Jewish victim and how scared his neighbors feel. But if that feeling surely exists in Ashod, you can imagine how they feel in Gaza... or maybe you can't if they don't show the pain on TV. If so, click on the video above, you probably never saw anything so horrible, such a sign of criminal arrogance by the Zionist terrorist state.

London riots update

Riots have also been reported in another English city: Birmimgham.

The British government has suspended vacations and police have been given special powers on several boroughs.

Greece: the state launches fascism to the streets: scores injured

This is the kind of Europe that the Capitalists have in reserve if we don't swallow their commands of giving them our lives in full without even a protest, if we dare, as the brave Greek People has done, to defy the dictates of the international banskter mafia.

This is what they will try to promote, what they are already promoting: Nazis at large, allowed to murder, Antifascists dead or in jail.

The Nazi/Fascist movement is not too big in Greece, where Left Wing movements are clearly dominant in the streets (not just now but from many decades ago). However a bunch of Nazi death squads have been allowed to go on rampage attacking immigrants and people with a leftist ideology, including the long-lived social center Vila Amalias.

As the media is on strike, there is no clear info on what really happened but there is a rumor on a criminal aggression by Pakistanis as trigger of this Nazi madness. I cannot confirm or deny but it stinks to fabricated rumor - and justifies nothing in any case.

In response there has been a major anti-racist demonstration and the same police forces that allowed the Nazis to go on rampage attacked the participants with extreme violence: tears gas and brutal beatings that have left almost a hundred people injured, at least two of them between life and death.

The account of injured published in Indymedia-Athens lists: 64 injured at Kat hospital, 10 at Evangelismo hospital, 20 at Geniko Kratiko (10 of these have concussions). 30 arrested of which 12 will be put to trial.

Two of the injured (by police) are between life and death: one, M.P. (27), has got his spleen removed in order to save his life, the other one, G.K. (30), is still struggling at the twilight zone of his existence after being removed dozens of blood clots from his brain in a surgery operation that lasted four hours.

Update (May 15): Bangladeshi murdered in Athens

Sare Antifaxista[es] reports that one Bangladeshi immigrant was found dead by stabbing, being the first mortal victim of the Nazi pogrom.

Also the Interior Minister regretted the excessive violence of the police and said it was still not democratic enough (erm... the dictatorship ended in the 1970s, what's wrong then almost 40 years later?)
